Colon Diverticulosis Diagnosis

The majority of people having diverticula will not experience any symptoms.

It is not uncommon that diverticula are discovered as an incidental finding when a patient undergoes colonoscopy or Barium enema for some other reason. However, some people may have nonspecific symptoms, like bloating and lower abdominal pain occasionally; this is known as diverticular disease. In the acute phase, a high-resolution CT scan enhanced with per os and IV contrast may be quite useful in setting the diagnosis.
