Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors Signs and Symptoms

There are no specific signs and symptoms in patients diagnosed with GISTs. In addition, 10-30% of patients are completely asymptomatic and their GIST is diagnosed by chance when a patient has an imaging test for an unrelated condition.

When symptoms do appear, these are usually vague and include:

  • Abdominal discomfort
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Palpable mass in the abdomen
  • Blood in the stools
  • Fatigue or anaemia
